Since I was kid, I never stay for more than 10 years in one city. I've been moving from place to place my whole life and tho I've been living in Surabaya since 2013, I might move to other places in the future. I don't know.
I spent my elementary school in two different cities, so did my junior high level. But fortunately, I was able to finish my senior high level in one city. Because of this, I, sometimes, don't know where I belong to. I used to be in this school but not really in that school. I used to get jealous to those who can spent more than 10 years of friendship since I never lived in the same place for more than 8 years.
Yes, I learned how to adjust here and there quite fast. Moving around taught me to observe things quietly when I am in a new place so I know what I need to do to be accepted in society. But, honestly, it's tiring. It affected my personality.
Some people may say I am an extrovert person. But the truth is I find comfort on my personal space, my own room, solitude. Crowded places can be very terrifying. In the end, what you see is not always what you get. I might seems to be an easy going person, but it's not always like that.
Being nomaden, of course, taught me many things. I learned how to respect other cultures, how to deal with people, learned to accept that we can be different, learned to agree to disagree, and to respect others' personal space. But sometimes I still find myself struggling to live day by day.
